Girls USAG Teams
Super Team and Training Team
Designed for girls who have demonstrated a desire to
pursue a gymnastics career and shown above-average
work ethic, drive, motivation, strength, flexibility,
and a willingness to learn.
Compulsory Gymnastics (Levels 3 - 6)
Level 3 - 6 compulsory gymnasts compete in USA
Gymnastics (USAG) Junior Olympic sanctioned competitions.
The routines, which are defined by USAG, are identical
for each competitor.
Level 3,4:
These levels consist of short, compulsory routines
only. Age groups are determined on a meet-to-meet
basis. Level 3 and 4 competition experience provides
the girls with an introduction to competitive gymnastics.
Progression to Level 5 will depend on their acquisition
of the necessary Level 5 skills and their ability
to compete.
Level 5:
This is the second level of competition. It consists
entirely of compulsory routines. To reach Level 6,
the gymnast must receive an all-around score of 31.00
or better in a Level 5 sanctioned meet, have the
ability to compete, AND have acquired the necessary
skills for Level 6 competition.
Level 6:
This is the third level of competition. Like Levels
3, 4, and 5, it too consists of compulsory routines
only. A girl is eligible to move to Level 7 after
she has an All-Around score of 31.00 or better in
a Level 6 sanctioned meet, shows the ability to
compete, AND has acquired the necessary skills for
Level 7 competition.
Optional Gymnastics (Level 7 - 10)
Like compulsory gymnasts, level 7 - 10 optional gymnasts
compete in USAG Junior Olympic sanctioned competitions;
however, their routines and skills vary from each
gymnast and event.
Level 7:
This is the fourth level of competition and is the
first level of optional competition. A girl is eligible
to move to Level 8 after she has scored a 31.00
All-Around, shows the ability to compete, AND has
acquired the necessary skills for Level 8 competition.
Level 8:
This is the fifth level of competition and the second
of four levels of optional routine performance. A
girl is eligible to move to Level 9 after she has
scored 32.00 or better in a Level 8 sanctioned
meet. Region V will be sponsoring a Regional Championship
Meet for all girls meeting their minimum score requirement
or better at their State Championship Meet. The decision
to move a gymnast to Level 9 is based not only
on a score of 32.00, (subject to change) but primarily
on her ability to perform very high-level optional
skills, as required for successful Level 9 competition.
Every gymnast must meet these additional requirements
before moving to Level Nine.
Level 9:
This is the sixth level of competition and the third
of the four levels of optional routine performance.
From Level 9, a gymnast can move to Level 10 by
scoring a 34.00 in All-Around at a sanctioned meet.
The decision to move a gymnast to Level 10 is based
not only on a score of 34.00, but primarily on her
ability to perform even harder optional level skills,
as mandated by the rules for Level 10 competition.
Every gymnast must meet these additional requirements
before moving to Level 10.
Level 10:
This is the seventh level of competition. It consists
of very high-level optional routines. The age groups
for competition are variable from year to year. From
Level 10, a gymnast can move to the Elite Level of
competition when certain score requirements are met.
Qualification to USA G Regional and/or National Championship
meets must be attained before a Level 10 gymnast can
move to the Elite level.
